Financial Services Authority and European Commission to discuss regulatory landscape at Complinet’s 5th Annual Compliance Conference

High-profile speakers from the financial and legal sectors, European institutions and the FSA to review developments and offer practical advice for 2008

London, UK — January 14, 2008 – Complinet, the leading provider of solutions that deliver relevant compliance intelligence to industry professionals, has announced the full programme of speakers and topics for its 5th Annual Compliance Conference. It will be held on February 6th and 7th at London’s Victoria Park Plaza.

Speakers and delegates from banks and insurance companies including UBS, Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse, HSBC, Barclays, Citi, and Prudential will join international regulatory bodies, consultants KPMG, Deloitte and BDO Stoy Hayward, and Complinet’s own industry specialists for the summit.

A significant event in the regulatory calendar for compliance professionals, the conference will review and discuss challenges facing the industry. The agenda will cover the implementation status of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive, Solvency II, Basel II and the Third Money Laundering Directive.

This year’s conference will be opened by María Teresa Fábregas Fernández, Financial Services Policy and Financial Markets DG, European Commission. Ms. Fábregas Fernández will give an update on the progress of MiFID and an overview of the EU’s 2008 financial services agenda.

Lyndon Nelson, the FSA's head of risk, will review deadlines and milestones within the UK regulatory landscape, as well as discuss the FSA’s initiative for more principles-based regulation. He will also set out the regulator’s business plan for 2008.

“Compliance departments are stretched to capacity, fraught with new rules and regulations of 2007, one of the most significant years for fundamental directives in Europe,” said Chris Pilling, CEO of Complinet.

“This event is the forum to help the European compliance community discuss risk from an international perspective as well as share the most successful ways to put governance and internal controls into practice. We will cover everything from the effects of the banking crisis to anti-money laundering initiatives; from different regulatory approaches, to the effects of sanctions, data management and customer concerns.”

Paul Johns, chief marketing officer at Complinet, said: “The involvement of the European Commission and the FSA in this event will ensure that attendees get to hear, first-hand, about the changes that shape our industry. They will gain practical advice and valuable insight into the regulatory environment of 2008 and beyond.”

Lyndon Nelson, head of risk for the Financial Services Authority said: “Speaking at Complinet’s Annual Compliance Conference is an opportunity for us to interact directly with those influenced by regulatory rule changes. We look forward to discussing our business plan and the necessity and role of regulations with the compliance community and addressing directly the questions from the audience.”
