QUE SIRA SIRA……whatever will be with the Securities Industry Regulatory Authority?

The consolidation of the NASD and the NYSE into a single regulatory body - FINRA

On November 28, 2006, the NASD and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) announced a plan to consolidate their member regulation operations into a new SRO that will be the single, private-sector regulator for all securities firms doing business with the public in the United States.

The NASD has long supported the concept of one SRO overseeing the regulation of all securities firms, because it will make private sector regulation more efficient and effective, which will enhance the integrity of the securities markets and increase the competitiveness of U.S. markets. Having one regulator-rather than two dueling regulators-and a uniform set of rules flexible enough to accommodate different firm business models and sizes contributes to more sensible, yet effective regulation.

Complinet has created this web page as a single resource for all FINRA-related updates. Much like our Regulatory Insight solution, we have connected the news, the rules and our analysis to bring you the most relevant information regarding new updates and press releases, proposed rule changes and the impacts of these changes as they relate to FINRA.
